ladies fingers/bhindi

they dont grow well in the british climate :).. okra in curry is my all time fave dish..

Okra likes hot, sunny, humid conditions, a challenge for the British gardener. A conservatory, greenhouse, low glass frame or cloche is best and a second covering of plastic over plants will help raise humidity more.

i may give it a try next season maybe in poly tunnels or something similar...

I am going to try grow the Burgundy variety this year :)

Though they were very slow growing to start out with, once the summer heat came in July, it took off... well, somewhat atleast.

I had around 6 pods harvest from each plant X 6 plants = enough for one decent meal.

So, this year I will start them indoors and quite early too, maybe next month!

Wow, I second that, what an amazing colour! And now I'm wondering what a mixed dish would look like...green and red okra :o
