View Full Version : Cucumbers that won't mature on the plant

So, I have cucumber plants that are growing wonderfully. However, every little cucumber that pops up will wither away and die before it can mature. I've gotten one cucumber so far out of all my plants.
Is there anything I can do to prevent the withering and encourage the growing?

Have you watch the video from the zuchinni thread? May be you have the same issue and if you will do that thrick , your cucumbers will grow too. Also, try to apply chicken manure. I found out about the manure last year from Riz and i can't complain about my yield. :)

It may be a pollination problem. Do you see little insects (not just bees) flittering in and out of your flowers? Also, how big are they getting to before they shrivel up?
Welcome to MG by the way :)

No, I haven't seen the video yet, but I'll definitely look into it. I don't see any bees or anything, but I'm assuming that since I've gotten one cucumber before, the pollination has happened previously?
I have done some reading though and haven't seen male flowers that should be there. They get about an inch or so and then turn yellow and shrivel.
If I can get my hands on chicken manure, I'll try it! And thanks for the welcome :)
