AsSalaamu Alaykum!

I thought I'd already made a thread/reference to this but I can't find anything...

I've been granted access to a workshop once again - YIPPEEE!! - so I've been planning to build a raised garden bed to solve the problem of limited sunlight in my garden.

I've been searching for commercially available ones, partially to see if there were any worth buying, and partially to see what features are necessary - if you have any links to good quality beds with a non-extortionate price please post them.

In the meantime I've been planning my bespoke bed...I wanted to be able to integrate my current cold-frame into the design as well as making it large+sturdy enough to support some pots off of the sides. I also need to make it cat-proof so that I can finally grow some root veg without fear of finding a 'present'

If you've built a raised bed before and have any tips, please post them here as well as with some pictures! I think you created one a while back Riz?

Above all please make dua that I manage to get the wood ordered on time and that I actually have time to spend in the workshop!

I may post my designs...I'll probably do that only if I manage to build it :cheerleader:

salaam oby...

you will need the wood to be around 8 to 12 inches in width and you will be fine.. I did mine the easiest way possible,, find the sunniest spot in the garden and assemble the pieces of wood by using exterior screws or use angle brackets, you can also lay some black sheeting first, i used black bin liners cut up.. line it in and make sure you punch holes in the plastic and then fill with well rotted manure and top up with compost and soil, rake in well and you are ready to go simple !!!!

8 hours of sunshine will be great for your veg patch..

i found some you tube vids that may give you ideas.....
