salaam alakum all,

I have a question, my neighbour has a beautiful wisteria plant that is mashallah enormous and growing over our fence and comes into my garden anyway that it can!!
massive wooded shoots are coming under the fence, I have trained these to grow up the fence on my side , my question is how do I take a cutting to plant the wisteria on my side of the garden as well, I would love to have it growing over a pagoda but it seems cheeky doing it with my neighbours plant!!

btw my neighbour isnt too friendly, we've been here 7 months and shes never returned a smile or a goodmorning yet! so I cant take a cutting from her side of the fence.

I have read that wisteria takes years to flower properly so this one must be very old due to its enourmous size mashallah!!

I'll try and add a photo inshaallah.

Asalaam Alaikum

I know this thread is old but was just wondering if anyone else has a wisteria in their garden?

Wa-Alaikum salam,

Yes i got wisteria in my garden. Taking cutting is very simple. Choose any new growth (soft growth) and take a cutting below two leaf buds. That's it. Rest is same with other cuttings (preventing moisture loss etc.). They are notorious for late flowering but not as late when propagating from cutting. Ruthless pruning is the key to their early flowering.

If you ever buy a wisteria plant for flowering, buy it just before spring. Choose that plant having flower buds otherwise the vine can take years to bloom even mature. In our hot climate, wisteria set buds in January/February.
