Gardening tips and features with Carol Klein and Joe Swift. It's the time of year we all work hard towards as the roses are in flower and the perennials are performing in the borders. What better then for Gardeners' World to wallow in and celebrate our summer borders and flowers at Berryfields with plenty of hints and tips of how to maintain the flower power of summer flowers. Our sensory garden gets a makeover too, with plants that stimulate our sense of smell, touch and sight.

How do people use their gardens? Is it for pleasure or practicality? The team look over the garden fence and get a glimpse of how gardeners create their gardens to fit their and their family's needs. Plus, the team pay a visit to garden designer James Alexander-Sinclair and take a look at head gardener Alys Fowler's own garden.

Carol Klein reveals some of her favourite plants, while Joe Swift prepares his allotment for when he goes on holiday.

Ethnobotanist James Wong looks at some garden plants that are endangered in the wild, and sweet peas come under the scrutiny of the Royal Horticultural Society at the trial grounds at Wisley.

The staff at the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr and Rosemoor also show off their best performing plants of the season and give advice on how to look after tomatoes.

With autumn around the corner, Toby Buckland adds some sparkle to the garden and reveals his passion for winter bedding plants. This includes both traditional and contemporary styles as well as what to look out for in the shops now. Carol is in her element seed collecting and thinking ahead to late season colour for next year. And Joe gets back to his allotment to find that not everything on the veg patch is rosy.

I liked the garden pests link. I think the nut tree had capsid bugs. (2 page) I never used insecticide.
