My kids brought it back from Nursery.
But no one there seems to know what it is.
I think it's some kind of bean plant?
I planted them outside.

I'm sure it's either a bean or pea, becuase of the leaf at the bottom of the second picture, could it be the Amish Snap Pea by any chance?

when iwas in primary school we grew beans, either way well done to your kids, they are a lot bigger than the ones i grew

Hmm yeah it does look like a bean species - it's got that characteristic stem. Does it have any sideshoots? I'm not too familiar with bean plants, I've only ever grown a dwarf variety and so I'm not sure whether it is normal for them to shoot straight up on a single stem like that. Do you know how old the plants are? If they are beans they should be flowering soon, they grow and flower very fast!

No side shoots and I have no idea how old they are. If they survive to flowering i'll take another pic. :)
