Has anyone planted any sweetcorn this year as there wasn't much activity with this veg last year. If you have how far have you got??
My seeds germinated about 3 weeks ago (indoors) and one of the plants has been growing very nicely, I've planted more seeds and inshallah they will germinate soon and catch the "test" plant up!
Here's some photos of the two plants so far.

They look good mashaAllah Tahir, I was going to plant some, but since I couldn't guarantee a yield I couldn't justify wasting my garden space, so I gave the seeds to my uncle - I hope he does well with them! (He's got a mahoosive garden mashaAllah, about 80-100 ft I think?)

Those are healthy looking plants, I'm currently trying to grow popcorn, the seeds germinated 4 weeks ago, but It took them 1 week and 3 days to germinate. But I kept them In a shallow starter bed for 2 weeks they got so tangled up. I threw 4 seedlings out. Untangled the rest which are doing well it the moment. The roots are very long. They need to be repotted, here are mine. I'm not expecting them to live long enough to produce cobs.

Your popcorn/sweetcorn plants look really good - are u going to keep them in pots or grow them in the ground when they get a little bigger?

Well Currently I have two growing on the ground, doing good but they look thirsty for nutrients so i'm gonna give them some. And I repotted one into a seperate pot. I'm gonna keep it there till it grows big. And I think my brother might have killed one of my corn as he sprayed WD-40 on the door railing and it got onto my corn leaves, they where so oily. I'll see what happens. I hope It survivies.

Here we sow them in early may. If you have seeds , you should sow them.

So I re-potted the popcorn on 12 April. And well, well. The popcorn thanked me for that. Now after 11 days look at It mashallah.
The leaves remind me of the indoor bamboos we have. It may produce cobs after all inshallah. I hope I don't find bugs in the cob if I harvest one, because I really hate bugs in fruits or veggies.
And one of my corn died. My brother got WD-40 on it accidentally, It started to rot to the core......

It's starting to get rootbound. I see roots underneath the pot. I'll repot it tomorrow and post an image.
