View Full Version : Runner bean hestia ( dwarf )

salaam.

i germinated around a dozen of these beans in small pots.. these are the dwarf variety so don't need any bamboo canes or trellis for support.. I will grow some in pots and the rest in the ground, i only germinated them 2 days ago but they need 7 to 10 days to sprout indoors..

Are these one of the legumes that fix nitrogen into the soil?

Yes Nife, I do believe they are. If you've ever pulled out a bean plant, you can see that the root has a thick and pinkish nodule within which the rhizobium has established itself.

^ thats under 20 inches.. it should be ok without canes...

My bean plants (above) are now well over 6ft tall lol and are flowering white flowers!!! Inshaallah looking forward to seeing some beans soon! :)

they look nice, mine are the dwarf variety so don't need any support and they are flowering.. its my first time growing beans although i have grown garden peas before..

I grow dwarf variety too and the plants donāt have vines, at least until now:

My french runner bean plant is now well over 8ft tall..I've run out of stick to let it climb so it growing into thin air loool :D

Lots of beans on it now! They are really long like minimum 5 or 6 inches! Mashaallah! :cheerleader:

Oh they are huge now :eek: About 9/ 10 inches long and 1 inch wide? :eek: the plant is beginning to feel the stress of the weight lol I have so many sticks holding up this 9 fott giant I dunno what else to do! :p gonna pick some beans today and take pics of them inshaallah :D

Have picked the entire plant twice now mashaAllah...the rain is really helping them grow nice and big :cheerleader:
