Hi, Salam Everyone!

Here goes my first post :p

I've just went and bought some trees from the Nursery including a mango tree, I have no problems with the other trees, but I just want to know how big does the pot need to be for the mango tree? I have no ground to plant it in. It has flowers on it though. Any advise :). Right now my climate is arid middle eastern, but it's spring so 30 to 70% humidity with 25 degrees C outside. Although it feels hot with all that sun, will my tree produce 6+ fruits if it's in a pot? I know it won't be tall and I don't want it to be, I'm gonna trim it to be short and bushy.

PS: Anyone know the name of the tree with spiny leaves?

Thanks!

salaam and hello..

cant you just tell us what country you are in !? lol

nice shopping trip. the golden rule about growing in containers is, "the bigger the container the bigger the yield" the mango cutting is looking good looks like its been cut from a decent mango tree, i would pot that in a big container maybe 5 times that size its in now.. i thik it will look great in a container this way you can prune it as well :)

the pic on the right looks like an indoor plant maybe "dragon plant"

Thanks, lol

Well I'm from Tiny Bahrain, Thanks for the advice on the mango tree, I know exactly what pot to get it, And I know it'll look good in it. When I was in the nursery I checked the underneath of the Mango plant but I missed what seems to be powdery mildew. I'm not sure but I thought it was soil at first so I tried rubbing it off but It was sticky. Disgusting. So I took that leave off and I sprayed the plant with sodium bicarbonate just to make sure, Hopefully it will survive. If the problem gets worse I'll have to try Milk/Urine (Eww..But apperently It's sterile and nitrogen gets converted to ammonia, which means I'll have to dilute) Do you think I should take the flowers off, Because as I recall the man told me It was 6 months old and I want it to grow strong. Look's like I'll go seed & Pot/Tool Hunting tomorrow.

Turns out that plant is dragon plant, specifically Dracaena marginata. I'm Looking forward to grow fruits and vegges.

Salaam-O-Alaikum,

Wow. Tiny Bahrain brought back some memories. I was born there and lived in Manama all my life. I wish I could go back there and plant my mangoes there : ) I think the climate there is perfect, in terms of temperature. Humidity wise I am not so sure because it can get up 90% humidity there. It's been a year now that you bought that mango plant. Any updates on it. When I was there never thought of growing one but now that I am in NY and have three of them I wish I should've grown back then :( since we don't have the right climate for a mango here. I have it indoors.
