ok i love orchids....but i cant seem to keep them alive....

i just brought another one today from the supermarket even though hubby was like why?? you just going to kill it again! think this is my third one now

does anyone else have an orchid?

hey..

i love orchirds as well.. they need warmth and humid conditions to thrive especially in u.k One idea is maybe cover it with a see through plastic bag to keep the humid conditions high, i bought one 2 seasons ago and it withered away slowly after a while, but i agree they are beautiful looking flowers. :)

Orchids are so beautiful! I wish I could grow them, but there's no way I could keep the conditions in my room for one of them.

It’s the change in temperature that’s crucial for successfully growing most orchids; if there isn’t enough of a temperature drop at night, the orchids may not bloom.

my heating is on 24/7 on low at the minute so there is no temperature drop

ive got it on my mantle piece....guess i should put it in the window...

gosh they are so hard to look after!!

so the petals on your plant have yet to bloom ? How about leaving it in the bathroom in the evenings and leaving the window open a tiny bit..

Hmmm could do....maybe the bathroom is the best place for it anyway seeing as they like humidity!

the 3 bottom flowers have wilted now but the others are opening up

lovely colour fozia.
i had some amazing orchid flowers this year. they came out in ramadan and have only just started to say goodbye. they start developing small brown blobs on the petals, some of which produce a sticky liquid. not sure what to do (if anything) when that happens?
