Asalamu Alaikam,

A small introduction to the Peace Lily - A popular house plant which is easy to maintain and has the ability to purify air, it prefers shaded, warm areas and needs watering 1-2 times a week

Those are so pretty! I've always wanted to grow one!

Unrelated, but in your status, where it says "humility", I thought it said "humidity" at first (oops) and was thinking well, there's something I didn't know about muslim culture...

haha humidity aww that made me lol the coolest thing about the flower imo is that it can cleanse the air in a room at the same time brighten up a shady area of the house with those beautiful smooth-looking leaves and the white petals if they develop that is

salaam everyone...

Yeah i got that given as a present 2 years ago.. it grew so quick i didnt know were to put it, at the end i gave it to my mother,, really striking looking indoor plant, and now thanks to farah i know the name of it finally :) and it had plenty of flowers...

fozia how big is it !?
what's your watering regime how often ?
do you give it any nutrients how often !?
is it kept at room temperatures ?
how big is the pot, it may be rootbound ?

i was thinking if you bought some miracle grow "pour and feed" they help to make the plants start blooming, it may just need a kick start,

are you using just regular soil or compost ? you can get some soil for indoor plants which have goodness inside the soil which will help the plant along..

I thought of this thread when I was coming back from my volunteer work - I always like to go around the gift shop and see what they have even though I rarely buy anything :) They had the most beautiful peace lily ever - it was blooming big, beautiful, dark red flowers. I wanted so much to buy it but sadly it was really out of my price range :(

fozia

check this link out,, its really interesting, it may be because its not getting enough light, were is it kept !? maybe you should move it to a bay window or something similar

A Little Light on the Subject
Flowering is usually a matter of light and/or temperature… long days, short days, cold snaps followed by warm weather and light levels. Do your plants have a nice dark green color? Are they healthy? They may look good but may not receive enough light to flower. Plants grown in the nursery are probably receiving 3000 foot candles (http://www.plant-care.com/peace-lily-spathiphyllum-flower.html#) or more of light. Most northern interiors if they receive 10% of that amount would be considered a lot of light.

Interesting! thanks for that riz....maybe mines the sensation one then as i rarely see flowers!!

It was kept in the living room, and i guess it wasnt getting much light there.... ive now put it back in the kitchen as the kitchen gets the most sun

hm thank you for that, really interesting article, just bought a new one from Aldi's and all the others around it looked the same, the batch production method is quite amazing, this particular one has a lot of flowers and it's still winter.. the lighting things confusing, so it needs to be in sunlight in the UK because the sun light we get is weaker? Any how wonderful plants hopefully it last a while & keep blooming!
