Mexican Fan Palm Tree(Washingtonia robusta)
Sago Palms(Cycas revoluta)
Pindo Palm Tree(Butia capitata)
California Fan Palm(Washingtonia filifera)
Windmill Palm TreeTrachycarpus fortunei)

Canary Island Date Palm(Phoenix canariensis)
Texas Sabal Palm(Sabal texana, mexicana)
Date Palm(Phoenix dactylifera)
Chilean Wine Palm(Jubaea chilensis)
Woolly Jelly Palm(Butia eriospatha) and almost all other butias.

these are nice in my opinion the phoenix's' look best but they still lack something

This is a great list of palms edibles! The only one's I would add to your exotic list is the Travellers Palm (Ravenala madagascariensis) which is actually part of the banana family  but looks like a palm!

Also try a website called jungle seeds - http://www.junglegardens.co.uk/PlantOrders/enter.html which is worth looking at.

I'll try to find some exotic garden photos from people in the UK, I've seen a few great examples which will give u some inspiration!

just to add to the list:

cretan date palm (phoenix theoprastii)
bamboo palm (Chamaedorea microspadix)
hardy parlour palms (Chamaedorea radicalis)
trachycarpus geminisectus (Eight Peaks Fan Palm) and every other trachycarpus
Mazari Palm (Nannorrhops ritchiana)
Silver Mazari Palm (Nannorrhops arabica (Silver))

I am desperately seeking out parajubaea torallyi seedlings which should be beautifully suited to the british climate(they come from 11500ft in bolivia regularly taking -7 and rarely seeing over 25C), if i cant find them i am going to have to buys seeds which can take a good deal over year to germinate

One last note, this list should be good for Uk but in america, mainland europe etc were there is no gulf stream keeping night temps up some may fail, in other words some are cool hardy as opposed to cold hardy

We had a pretty bad winter here in dallas and all of my cycads are dead because the leaves easily pull off...i was wondering if there is a way to tell if my jelly palms are still alive? all the leaves have turned brown and nothing seems to be growing..jus a few years ago it used to produce sooo many dates but now because the winters are getting much worse its looking bad...any idea how to tell whats going on with it?

the leaves on my queen palm are getting yellow with brown spots...could this be from over watering?? or do i need to give it manganese fertilizer
