Salaam (peace),
if you had the space and the ideal weather/location what would you grow and what would be the lay out?
Would you have any garden ornaments or specific features?

A big gorgeous papaya tree and some mango trees...
Not too many flowers, I like them a lot but I don't like that a lot of them bloom and die so quickly. Maybe some rosebushes, I love those :)
Lots and lots of leafy vegetables! I love leafy vegetables, I'll plant a whole field of swiss chard and spinach :tree-huggin: definitely beans and cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, and a strawberry field... I love most vegetables and fruits so anything would be great :)

wow..
its a hard question..
1 acre of land would suffice for a while for me, i would divide it in a few sections,
section 1 : vegetable patch in the sunniest part of the garden
section 2 : wild english meadow, (just love looking at english meadows)
section 3 : tropical garden with yuccas/palm/banana/pineapples/date/ with passifloras
section 4 : fruit garden with tangerines/oranges
section 5 : pistachio and walnut bushes and trees
A pond with some huge Brazilian style water lilies would be nice too
and a Moorish designed gravity water fountain with Arabic calligraphy written on it..
i do the lottery every week,, lucky dip !! :D

Love the thread - so I stickied it :tree-huggin:
Hmm what would I have? I'd love a beautiful orchard, fruit trees galore, I'd have different sections; fig and olive trees lining a walkway to a huge fountain in the middle (where you could do your wudhu), apples/pears/oranges/lemons/limes and stuff in another section, plums/apricots/loquats/mangoes/persimmon in another, papaya, pomegranate and passion fruit in another, date palms scattered around, any other fruit trees I've forgotten would be incorporated somewhere, would have grapes/berries in a corner/foresty/shaded part somewhere - I'd love to have flowers surrounding the fountain and in little patches all over the grounds, riots of colour that would attract all kinds of birds and things, would have things like bird boxes and hedgehog runs and all of that kind of malarkey around the place too, I'd also have another huge partially obscured place for veggies, cucumbers/tomatoes/beans/peas/sweetcorn/all kinds of veggies! And it'd have a ton of wood in it, kinda like a vineyard, supporting frames and beams and lovely old matured wood, with benches and rockeries, places to sit and reflect.
I'd love a treehouse somewhere, where I could lay down and watch the stars but I'd also love some grassy hillocks where I could sit and reflect/pray. A stream would be a bonus, and a pond for fishies :p I'd also love a little ranch style part to keep horses for riding :D
As you can see, I'm very ambitious, but I'll acheive it one day inshaAllah, if not in this life then the next Ameen

Awesome avatar by the way!

Ameen to that Obsidian!
What beautiful ideas! I'd steal bits and (lots of) pieces from everyone's dream garden, like the wheeping willow and i totally get not wanting too many flowers because they die out but they bring so much color to scenery... like Cherry blossom our childhood home used to be owned by a Japanese couple beforehand who planted one in the front garden and for about 2 weeks when it blossomed every year it was so beautiful the ground would be covered in lovely white-pink petals... the rest of the time it would either be bare or have dark purple leaves

English meadows wouldn't require a lot of attention as the flowers could just grow wild perfect in such a varied dream garden! It would probably attract butterflies. Love the walkway idea can you imagine walking down to a fountain underneath trees - There is a recurring theme water in near enough everyone's garden - streams, fountains, ponds they're so peaceful
jazakAllah khair for the responses didn't expect as many! Makes me realise how much limitless creativity there is in the garden as well.
stunning garden :

You'd never have to leave the house for fruit not sure how a stream/river would work in that shape but it'd be handy for watering

the good thing about having your own patch of land is you can keep on adding to it every season..
i would like to have some huge wooden greenhouses, maybe 2 of them.. definitely keep some horses, chickens, sheep, cows..
did i mention pomegranate trees !!? lol

Don't know exactly... but I'd follow the principles of permaculture gardening (probably with some edible animals as well) and eat as much food as I can from my garden :) plus I'd put in nice ornamental things e.g. nice places to sit. In fact as the question is about my *dream* garden... I wouldn't need to go food shopping at all :p and I wouldn't need to work constantly to keep it going, cause the permaculture principle is that the different plants/animals support and sustain each other, to minimise the work that you do :)

I'd have a big vegetable plot with the rows in swirly patterns, an orchard with lots of different sorts of fruit and a meadow, and a couple of big trees.
I think there would also be a stream running through it and I'd have some chickens, pigs, bees and either a goat or a cow.
Oh, and a nice wooden greenhouse with mosaic floor big enough to grow tropical trees in. I want a cinnamon tree^^
And of course there would be a nice seating area, a big wooden table and benches where I can sit and eat breakfast (fruit salad with freshly picked fruit) in the garden! And a barbecue/bonfire area somewhere near the big table.
Oh and some winding stone steps leading somewhere mysterious, and flowers, and lots of little hidey holes. And a tree house! :)
I could probably keep adding things all day:rolleyes:

^ very nice martine,, looks like you want a little bit of everything in your dream garden :)
i forgot to add i want to become a bee keeper as well ...... i think i would be fascinated on a daily basis if i kept bees.
with out honey bees mankind wont last that long on this planet according to einstein. just imagine no BEES no pollination. humans will have to hand pollinate everything, that in itself would be a full-time occupation for every human on the planet....

That's not that far off you know, I heard that in only two years or so all the wild bees will have died out so there will only be the ones that are kept by people... Sounds like good reason to keep bees to me!

I would want to have a perennial garden too, lots of bright vivid colours
i would probably have lots and lots of them in one spot really close together so they look as if they are ready to burst and explode flower petals everywhere in a 1 mile radius, that would really work..
If i had the chance and the will to do it, ( maybe when i get married) i would like to relocate to cordoba, spain , it would be great, a nice villa with maybe 20 acres of land not too secluded but off the beaten track, like a rustic villa....

My dream garden would have only 2 pomegranate trees, 2 mango trees, 2 banana trees, plenty of grape vines and bee hives with lots of bees in them. Hey is there anyway you can relocate a bee hive? I want one near my house, the honey straight from a bee hive is awesome, i bought some recently with beeswax and all it tasted so awesome. Yummy.

Yes you can relocate them, you have to do it at the right time of year and make sure you bring the queen with you. I don't know all the details though, but I know keeping bees is a bit of work especially now when there's lots of disease around. If you're interested though it's definitely worth going on a bee keeping course (I will!) or talk to someone who keeps bees, it's very interesting:)
