i think im posting this in the right place

ive got this plant...had it about a year now

i made the mistake of repotting it in a bigger pot......i googled it when it started looking sick and the advice was not to repot it in a big pot as it starts growing more roots and the leaves start dying out

now its beginning to look like its not worth trying to keep it alive

thats the problem....ive forgotten the name....i was going to google it again as i think it may be over watered....

ive not watered it much....it looked dried out a bit so i watered it...then remembered that it had said last time i read up on it to stick i a pencil in or something first to see if the soil below was dried

the leaves are looking like ive now over watered it!

Oh, my mom has one of those! I have no clue what it's called, but I believe she waters it once a week. (That's what she does with all of her houseplants, anyway.)

We had the weird browning on the edges too, but all she did was chop off the brown bits and the plant seemed to do okay.

Good luck!

so she just cut off the brown bits?

i was cosidering taking off the whole leaf...but looking at it that would leave it bald lol

fozia, i think you are right about the over watering.

its called a corn plant (Dracaena fragans) They are really easy to overwater and almost thrive on neglect. water it once every month and that's it, so if you have watered it recently don't water at least 3 weeks to a month. It should bounce back after a month or so...."Corn plants do best in small pots, in porous soil, in bright indirect light. They should be watered thoroughly whenever the top third of the soil feels dry".

so basically they dont like being re-potted and you may have over watered it,, ( it happens) so dont water it for the next 3 weeks.....

I have one of these and the same thing is happening to mine!!

It was looking really good a month ago and had started to flower for the first time in years and now the leaves are drying up but I haven't watered mine for a good few weeks so not sure about the overwatering bit??

I'll see if i can find some pics of the flowering stage and what it looks like now.

My plan is to keep the plant and trim the dried leaves as much as I can and see what happens!

wa alaykum asalaam!

mines worse too now :( the leaves are just getting worse and worse

i think the other problem is i recently invested in a dryer and its next to that so probably not helping..but ive not got space anywhere else to put the plant as its so big..... told hubby to put it in the spare room but he wasnt happy with that so i think its soon going to be RIP plant!
