tried to grow mangoes - no luck yet in three years
my sister sent me dates from the prophet's (SAW) date tree a few years ago when i was ill and i planted one seed which is growing - slowly
loquat is still alive but small
grapes - will not cut it down this year but leave it as is except put lots of newspaper as usual on the ground around it
olive tree - still alive after 3 three years outside but hasnt grown very much - i think it is a slow grower
strawberries - overgrown with them now so need to weed them out
kiwi - still alive outside = planted this year inshallah next year we should get fruit
gooseberry - gave 3 fruits this year but it is the first full year
raspberry - gave a lot of fruit this year
pears - lots of pears
apple trees - one gave one apple the other lots
cherry tree - dwarf - gave two fruit which i ate before they ripened - quality control :-)
inshallah next year we shall see what other fruit to grow

OOOOOOOOOOH I had never heard of them either until I googled a picture. We call them persimmons here and I thought you guys on the other side of the ocean did too! I agree, they taste amazing :)
By the way, what other fruits/veg have different names in the UK? Thanks to muslimgrower, I've already learned about the aubergine (eggplant here...)

Interesting about the cilantro though, I always thought that coriander was just the name for the seeds... do you call the plant coriander too?
