i am so glad i pruned my rose bushes and climbers back in early spring..

the queen Elizabeth rose bush is now packing the foliage on, and no mould or black spots anywhere on the leafs, last season it was looking really scrappy, but now it seems to be so much vibrant.. :)

The colour is lovely Riz!!

I trimmed back my rose trees quite a LOT in the winter...I thought it may have been too much in fact but alhamdullillah there has been lots of new growth, lots of little buds, a couple have began to open (pink!) I counted 50 buds this year inshaAllah! :cheerleader:

Tania

i am getting better with arranging flowers its takes time and practice and of course the right flowers, but some flowers bloom later than others so you can only make up a boquet with what you have growing in your garden....

Masha'Allah! My big, light pink rosies bloomed and died already, and now I've got some new growth on the bush again (hopefully there'll be more blooms as I kept deadheading).

My other rose bush is in full swing though! Although I don't consider it a rose bush because the flowers are so...un-roselike. And my third one is trying to bloom, but he's still buried under builder crap :kez_11:

I have two rose bushes growing near the bamboo but now the bamboo is packing on leaves and just spreading, i will move them to another part of the garden, really nice roses reddish and white, they need to be moved anyway not much sun on that side of the garden thats why i am only getting a few blooms on it instead of lots and lots from the other i have in the sunnier part of the garden.

first thing to do is locate the place were you wish your rose bush to be planted and start digging a nice big hole, this is the first thing i do.....

i scattered some chicken pellets inside the hole and watered in...
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa300/sajid_012/DSC06518.jpg

i dug out the rose bush and left the roots soaking in a bucket of water overnight... i did this today so tomorrow i will plant it in the sunnier side of the garden..

salamu aleykum,

very beautyful pictures in this thread!
Is it true that roses can be multiplied just by planting a piece of it in the soil? I mean without roots?

~Obsidian~
4th April 2012, 03:52 PM
waAlaykum AsSalaam,

I do believe it's possible, but I think that people normally get the cutting to grow some roots first by dipping the end in hormone rooting powder before planting the cutting. I think people also suspend the base of the cutting in water to get it to root, while others just plant it straight into compost and place a bag over the top to maintain a high level of humidity while it roots.

Riz
5th April 2012, 03:01 PM
thats exactly how i do it, i snip out a stem with a few shooting tips and simply push that into soil in a pot and water in the mornings and evenings and within 10 to 15 days they start to sprout, really easy, you can do the same with fruit cuttings...

here is a pic of mine i did a few weeks ago, you can see the side shoots growing..

salamu aleykum

i can't see a picture, only a little red cross...

will the fruit cuttings also have fruits when they have grown?
mashAllah that seems so easy!
My mother, a gardenfan, allways told me that if i sow the seeds of a fruit it could be that the tree growing will not have fruits or fruits with other properties. I never understood this. So i'm asking if it is the same for the cuttings.

Riz
5th April 2012, 09:54 PM
here is a link of the rose cuttings instead

http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa300/sajid_012/muslimgrower/DSC06624-1.jpg

yeah i have peach cutting that i got of my neighbor, he also got it as a cutting 3 years ago and now its a 8 foot small tree, with so many flowers...

yeah its better to grow from a cutting especially fruit trees this way you are guaranteed quality because it will grow same as the mother tree..

i guess when you grow from a seed because of cross pollination you dont know 100% what you gonna get..
